How to coop/multiplayer in BF4

Read lots of critism on the internet about coop in BF4,.. must say I am kinda puzzled...

We are 5 guys,not one of us can figure out how to create a game, where we end up in the same squad so we can own the other players..

HOW to do???? 

and a troll: the UI sucks bigtime - really mystery meat cookie.

    Once all 5 of you are on the same team (you may have to switch teams after your first death), hit escape, then team set up and join the other guy's squad, and if there's a random in the squad the squad leader can either kick the random or you can leave the squad and create your own squad to have your 4 friends join.
