that's a pretty big possibility, unless it specifically states on their download site that it supports win 8 it very well may not support it at this time. But it should work just fine since win 8 is supposed to have some sort of compatibility. I don't have it but is there a way to right click on the shortcut and go into the properties to set the compatibility mode or something similar?

i tried reinstalling origin and still encounter this problem. tried running compatibility mode to windows 7 but still problem persists
Had the same issue. Running it in a different user account fixed it. Then it just started happening to me again. So now I'm completely stumped as well.
I think it is a windows 8 issue because I'm on 64bit windows 8 as well.

logging in with another user enables me to start it for the first time. after that it crashes again.
- ApprovedAnonymous13 years agoJust installed win on my laptop so I'm going to do some testing. As a word of caution to everyone, when there is a new operating system things generally don't always work the best so its best not to jump right on the bandwagon and hope that it all works out.
I just upgraded to win 8 and Im getting the same eror. I shut down IE 10 thinking that might do it thru chrome still the same.. Im sure this will get resolved quickly or I will revert back to windows 7

I had the same issue. For grins, I updated my network driver and audio driver (same package) on my EVGA X58 FTW3 motherboard to the ones labeled for Win8 64 and the issue seems to be resolved. Worth a try!
Anyone get this figured out? I'm still having the same issue.
deleted, nothing for n00beris to plagiarise
Done all of that. The only thing that worked temporarily was creating a brand new user profile. Opened once and never again after that.
