Long Range Sniper Mechanics for BF4

Unfortunately BF3 was designed to allow snipers to hold thier breath and make extreme range headshots (800m plus) from a standing position.  This is impossible in the real world and since many of us play BF for the realism it delivers, it is a major con for serious snipers.  This function in BF3 gave birth to a new class of sniper as players discovered the capability.  The "ballerina" sniper took center stage.  While competent and realistic bipod snipers targeted the "ballerina" sniper at extreme range, he simply dodged the opponents shots by dancng around with a brief pause to make 1000m headshots.  For those of us that refuse to degrade ourselves to this type of sniping bafoonery it has become frustrating because the "ballerina" has the upper hand.  My question is:  has EA eliminated this fantasy capability from BF4?  Does anyone know?

  • I don't know what DICE has done to the sniping since the beta, and I didn't  find those 800m headshots that easy as you seemed to do. I did however think that with the rangefinder etc. that the sniping was more realistic.

Not that BF ever has been realistic, as it is a computer game a buttload of compromises have to be made for the game to actually be fun.
