Main menu rendering issues - Missing objects, buttons, avatars

Product: Battlefield 1
Platform:PC
Summarize your bug The main menu will not render 100% of the objects. Missing items/buttons and images from Left side quick buttons, background images for menus, battlepack animation videos, inventory item graphics, Soldier avatars. All text and tool tip popups (f.ex. when mousing over the quit button) are visible. Only graphical images or buttons are not visible.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Not sure how to replicate this bug. I have tested this on a fresh installed Windows 8.1 on this same computer, there I do not get this bug. This bug is only present on this current Windows 10 install.

I have the latest Nvidia drivers, windows is up to date and I have tried this with and without DX12 enabled in game. This was also present in the Beta build of the game, where the entire menu was invisible (Only thing showing up was a blue-black background with "OPEN BETA" in the top right corner.

  • Hi,

I found the problem was the location of my "My Documents" folder was set to another HDD than where the Battlefield 1 installation was.

After correcting this, Battlefield 1 loaded up perfectly.

Thanks for the quick response though!

  • Same problem here. All menu icons are missing. Can't open Battlepacks or see their contents. This problem only started after the November patch.

I also have 'My Documents' on another Mechanical Hard Drive ('D), Battlefield 1 is installed on my primary SSD ( 'C'where my OS is also installed).

All icon assests seem to take a long time to load if they do at all. The main game, UI and all, is however working fine.

Moving 'My Documents' back to 'C' did not fix it for me, i'd also preffer to keep 'My Documents' off my SSD

Any news on a fix, or a temporary work around?

    Hi,

Having the exact same problem as o-SMINKY-o. After the November Hardcore/FoW patch i am lucky if i can even connect to online, the images for all game modes don't work and when i can connect it doesn't join a game, it just sits on matchmaking.

I know my internet is fine as i can voice chat with friends and i play other games online fine. I have re-installed Origin and BF1 on my SSD drive twice now at about a 9mb/s download speed and opened tickets of my own.

Also the location of my Battlefield 1 saves are in Users\(my user log in)\My Documents\Battlefield 1 (this is my C drive)

If someone could get back to us with a possible fix that would be great...

Missing out on Battlefest ! </3

    Hey @UltraStunt,

the settings will usually be saved in "C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\Battlefield 1" and can't be changed via Origin. The game installation folder can be set in Origin via "Origin -> Application Settings -> Installs and Saves".

If you want to delete the settings, you can simply move the settings folder, this will also reset your campaign progress, which is saved locally.

If you want to remove and redownload menu assets, you can simply delete the "twinkle" folder which will be recreated as needed on the fly.

But has there been a fix for this, kinda annoying to delete the twinkle folder everytime I launch the game or close it.

  • Did anyone ever find a proper fix for this, still having this problem in 2021

I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

If you have any issues with Battlefield 1 please make a new topic about the issues you are having and what kind of steps you have tried to solve them.
