Not recognising existing key and unable to re-enter it

have had this game for ages and now it has stopped working. keeps on asking  for a key but then says an error has occurred, even though shows that i am online and have a valid product key

as a result, i can t get it to recogmiose the existing key or re-enter it

the key is on the original physical cd

cam anyone help
