Origin - Akamai

How do the Akamai content servers provide content? I am in South Africa, my Akamai servers point to a local presence where I would presume content would be cached. The ISP hosting the local Akamai server happens to be the same ISP I use.

TracerT of my Akamai server:

Yet when I monitor my network traffic, I can clearly see that 4 connections are downloading at one time (all the same IP), but they constantly change during the download. None of the IP's are local.

Sample of one of the IP's used while downloading:

Would this explain why I can not reach more than half my line speed on the download? It took over 20 hours for me to update my BF3? Whats going on?

  • Everytime i try logging onto battlelog i get the a248.e.akamai.net **bleep**.

    Security certificate highly questionable

Please don't even waste your time trying to contact those robots they call advisors at ea games or origin...they have no clue what day it is at best....trust me when i say i think i've explained myself at very least 2 dozen times........

This **bleep** only started happening about 2 weeks ago.

At first i mention akamai.net they ended the conversation.

I was told by a advisor that akamai.net is a legitimate service provider for EA Games

If this were true why is there no security certificate?

I now have 2 games with expansions that i cannot play because of a248.e.akamai.net **bleep**

Origin don't give a **bleep**...they got their money why should they care

i have yet to have one of their reps prove me wrong.

I think you are asking questions in the wrong forum. Start with you ISP. Ask them why you why you cannot connect to an external server.
