Re: [INFORMATION] Origin version BF1942 won't launch

So, I just got an Origin account because I saw that my childhood love Battlefield 1942 was free. So I -running Windows 7 32 bit-  installed Origin, downloaded and installed BF 42, and when I click the play button the window pops up saying 'launching game' and then the window vanishes, my mouse has the loading icon beside it for a second, then nothing. No game, no nothing. This is the second computer I've installed Origin and BF 42 on, and I'm getting irked by this. Any help?

I've moved your thread from Battlefield 3 to Battlefield 1942.

Could you please deactivate Origin In-game for Battlefield 1942 and then try again. If you are using the latest beta update for Origin, right-click Battlefield 1942 and select Game Properties -> Disable Origin In-game. If you are using the latest release version of Origin, click Application Settings in the main menu, go to Origin In-game and deactivate it or set it to recommended games.

Try again and let us know if that will make it work for you.

Negative, still zero results. The game doesn't even boot up in the slightest, just the Origin window saying that the game is launching.

Can you do a right-click -> Repair Install please, just in case there is something wonky with the game files.

Oh, and have you already tried activating compatibility mode for the bf1942.exe?

Repair did nothing, the report says my copy is good-to-go. How do I activate compatability mode?

Open the game folder with Windows Explorer, default location would be here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942

Then right-click the bf1942.exe and select Properties. Click the Compatibility tab in the new window, set it to Windows XP or 7, confirm with a click on OK and try launching the game again.

Sorry for the delay in reply. Tried this, tried running it in all the available XP modes and the W7 mode as administrator. Nothing still.

Same issue here, Windows 8, using my second [New] Origin account, BF1942 won't launch, however other demos on origin do, but I would also like to know other than why BF1942 won't load, will I be able to buy and play new EA games off of origin on my second [Newer] account such as BF4 on a second account?

    Thank you.

I've got the exact same problem on my windows 8 computer.

I also had this problem for battlefield 3 and somehow managed to fix it by reloading all my games.

But that does not work for Battlefield 1974

Why does EA make games if us customers cannot even start them up ?

I just got Battlefield 1942 and I have the same problem as well. I tried running it in 640x480 resolution and got a black flickering screen for a few seconds, but still nothing.

Pitty, I still remember going to my nephew only to play battlefield. Was hoping to dig up some memories... It was such an amazing game back in the days.

I found the fix. 7 days of work came down to this.

    1. Go onto this website: http://par.nofate.me/

    2. Press select file.

    3. Go into 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942' and select a file called bf1942.par

    4. Press submit, download the new .par file and replace the current one in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942'

    5. Enjoy 🙂
