Some demand that players learn to adapted, face challenges and think more tactical while demanding
- we all wear the same uniforms.
- we all have a clearly visible class.
- every vehicle is known.
- no spotting.
All because immersion is more important.
Then some also demanding less animation, restrict movement option and magical revive yet
- vehicles need to be powerful.
- bullets be more realistic. (no sweet spot)
- must have reload animation.
All because gameplay is important.
Then state that BF4 is the greatest and asking for BF6 to be a better sandbox like BF4.
But don't dear challenge any of those memes because suddenly your evil and have no idea.
Well after 5000hrs of playing BF, things change. BF: Vietnam had some fun functions but clunky, BF2 was slow, BF2142 was the best balanced but forced teamwork, BF3 was most arcady, BF4 Grindy and a complete mess, BF1 the most immersive and BF5 the best sandbox.
So what I am looking for in the next BF
- a sandbox where I get to choose my toys and how the look.
- immersive being able to move around a map freely and not be boxed in because I can't jump over a 1.2m wall. Seeing players enter or exit vehicle not just magical appear. Needing to interact with health and ammo rather then sitting on box getting unlimited support.
- a variety of maps, vehicles and gadgets.
- a challenge but not spend hour after hour just for a small item.
- better in game communication, that includes spotting.
- teamwork that is supportive not forced. By this if I do something can be effective but hard, doing it with team mates (not just squad) easier. Forced is when I must have another player to operate.
@DingoKillr I agree with a lot of your "tropes" Here where why I agree with them.
- we all wear the same uniforms. - Yes within reason BF3 was the gold standard here and excessive monetization via F2P models in a fully paid game only neuters in game progression and rewards systems. I also want to play a military themed game like we've had until BF5 not a game that looks like I'm killing bad guys from Fallout, Borderlands, or FarCry
- we all have a clearly visible class. - I don't care on this one, if he'd red he's dead IMO. I don't know anyone who changes their tactics based on who the class is they just hit LMB and kill.
- every vehicle is known. YES this is required because DICE cannot balance a map around every possible combination of vehicles that players choose when they can choose from all vehicles. It's better to have a specific number of tanks, LAVS, choppers etc pre-stationed on the map.
- no spotting. No - BF5 showed us exactly why we need spotting. DICE needs to bring back traditional CORE\Hard Core for those who don't want spotting etc.
- vehicles need to be powerful. - Yes but balanced. Having weak tanks like in BF5 is not good for overall game play. Planes which have been a hot topic of discussion since BF1942 need to be balanced too not OP which means no controllable bombers.
- bullets be more realistic. (no sweet spot) - yes sweet spot was horrible in BF1 and I was glad it was gone.
- must have reload animation. - Who is saying this? We always had an animation or are you talking about vehicles?
@ragnarok013 there a few things
- knowning how many of type of vehicles sure like 1 MBT, 2 IFV but does it always have to be 1 Abram, 2 LAV v 1 T90, 2 BTR.
Why can't it be 1 Leopard, 2 Boxer v 1 ZTZ-99, 2 Boragh
- argue for realistic bullets(i.e. no swetspot) sure but when some argue for some realism in other aspect like glare on sniper scope game play seems to be a huge issue.
- less animation argument, usually go no wall climb, no slide, no squad revive, no dying, no enter/exit vehicle, no interaction with crates, to create better game play. However gun reload must be kept for realism, well some of those are for immersion others to slow game play like restock gadgets. What is interesting I believe seeing a dying player to revive is there for non hud players. I have seen comment on other forums too.
game has always had reload animation.
but starting in BF1 they started adding a new class of animations. and BFV doubled down on those. And now the game is animation central. enter/exit animations being particularly annoying. but others are as well like the "fell too far animation" and the revive animation.
I think the cure was worse the disease for most if not all the new classes of animations.
at best the animations themselves are pretty much all horrible to look at day in and day out. at worst they really make the game less fun to play overall.
I'm willing to sacrifice some "immersion" in favor of a smooth running game. Enter exit aren't needed, the hold X to enter on BF4 works just fine, doesn't disrupt the flow, and is completely forgivable in the big picture.
I assume by enter an exit animation people are referring to entering vehicles. These are absolutely essential to keep for balance reasons as previously you could attack someone repairing and they could insta warp into the vehicle and effectively counter attack. Same issues exists with exit animations. gunner can just pop out and flank someone. These animations are sensible, practical and by and large well executed. No more than you should have instant reloading weapons should you be able to instantly make yourself immune to small arms fire while dramatically increasing your offensive capabilities as you do when you enter a tank. I shouldn't have to wonder whether a person entered a tank or lost their internet connection when they disappear.
There is precisely ZERO reason to legitimately criticize these vehicle entry/exit animations and any attempts to do so can be easily dismissed as can likely their authors.
OTH you have patently absurd animations like sliding which are both unnecessary and poorly implemented. Sliding deserves all the animosity it has garnished and then some.
