Never liked how a player that just died can take a vehicle from someone that's been waiting just because they have a little lower ping and they click faster. Sucks even more when the person essentially stealing your queue sucks in the vehicle and is wiped out almost as soon as they get it.
The other side of this is you're sitting in a damn menu screen. You could be on the airfield with AA, or tank depot with artillery or some other defense while waiting for vehicle availability. Doing "something" for the team.
When I started playing Battlefield (2002) it was an open sandbox game. All tactics where fair play. All bases, CP's, vehicles were fair play. Modern Battlefield has turned into a overly casual hand holding shooter. I'm hoping BF6 edges back toward its core roots a bit.
edit ...
If they keep "spawn in", then I'd like to see a queueing system applied. First queued gets first dibs. The UI will denote number of players queued for vehicle. When the vehicle becomes available the first queued gets a 3-5 second deploy window. If they don't deploy, the next in line is prompted and the other is removed from queue and spawned at main or optionally preselected CP.
I also favor the old school open sandbox game, with all options being fair game! If some server owner wants some special limitations applied, then they can do so in their own settings. But your suggestion about a queueing system would be great if combined with like vehicle spawning in aka BF4 or before. So when you are dead/at spawn screen, you can confirm if you want to enter queue for a given vehicle if none are available at that time. You can then see your slot being confirmed in the queue. To decide if you wanna spawn in first and be active in other actions till you get closer to the front of the queue line. And at a certain time after dying (again :o), you will then be notified at spawn screen that you are at the front of the queue and you may opt to remain there to enter into the vehicle or not at next availability.
This way both the novice and the expert vehicle * gets an equal chance to try it out. Though no doubt the experts will be able to stay alive much longer than the novice. So this should mute their objections for allowing others also to try and gain some experience in the vehicles. All experts also started out as newbies one day in the past.

I don't like the idea of queueing in a system like BF4 or older. Unless it's tied only to vehicles that don't spawn unmanned. Like aircraft on some maps. For example Jets on Golmud Railway.
For all other vehicles you have to get to them first and enter manually. Like Golmud tanks, quads, apc's, choppers.
Only apply queueing to vehicles that do not spawn unless manned.
Jet: 3rd in queue...
When available... [Deploy!] (5 second count down)
At 0 sec, no deploy: Remove from queue and either pop up a notification or auto spawn at main, closest CP to death location.
Simple and Done.

How people get them is another story and is less important. No system will avoid vehicle-players 'wasting time', waiting for a given vehicle.- 4 years ago@cso7777
Definitely like the preset vehicles of the older titles.
Only issues I had with the "Spawn-in" assets like Jets/Choppers (map dependent) was waiting for the spawn and it being snatched by a player that had just been killed 15s before spawn while I waited 1:15 for it.
Only to beat me out because he had a lower ping. That lower ping allows you to get the button enabled sooner and the press return to server sooner. First to server wins.
In the older titles I'd be standing at the jet spawn waiting for it. He'd be sprint jumping toward it. Or see me there and go for something closer.- cso77774 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Rev0verDriveThey should just make a queue-system. And then let people play as infantry (while waiting) and when they get a slot, let the player decide within 10 seconds (or so) whether they want the vehicle or not.
This way we don't have people wasting a lot of time "not playing" and all get a fair share of vehicle play.
