You were disconnected from EA Online. Error in BF3

i'm trying to paly bf3 again for some nostalgia but for the life of me i can't get it to work, at first i was getting a problem with punkbuster but i think i have fixed it already, now i when i try to launch the game some status bar at the bottom keeps getting stuck at logging in then this error appears "You were disconnected from EA Online. Please check your internet connection or try again later. (1)"

I am also getting a wierd error about failing to connect to cloud and needing to use local data instead in the ea app, my network is working fine and i don't have any problem playing other games. Is anyone else experiencing this and are there any fixes?
