Anticheat causes a pc crash

the specs
Processor    AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D 12-Core Processor             4.40 GHz
Installed RAM    32.0 GB (31.1 GB usable)
Device ID    B420A3EA-F0E9-4900-A450-BEC8D79AF300
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

gotta also point out that I have a dual boot with linux using GRUB

When I try to launch the game, it brings the "preparing game" thing, asks me to run the anticheat as administrator which I allow to do, and then my pc just freezes untill I leave it long enough to reboot, or just reboot it myself. I've installed the latest drivers,  had memory integrity disabled, tried reinstalling, repairing both the game and anticheat, nothing worked, sucks to have a game you can't play honestly.
if anyone had a similar problem and found a solution, please let me know, thanks in advance

  • Same here. Seems like, lot of people got this problem now, just read the latest posts.  An EA Anticheat update released couple weeks ago, since then i can't play any games using EA Anticheat. My PC freezing if i try to launch the game. Preparing game and boom instantly freezing.  I tried every solution i found on the internet NOTHING works. Hope they fix this, because this is ridiculous.

And of course i play lot of other games without any issue so the problem is not in my pc.

  • Add me to the list. Wanted to reinstall BTF V to give it a go again. 10 attempts later, best i got was launcher just closing itself. But running "repair" on the files will hard reset the PC at the end of process. Installing usually leads to full hard reset of PC at the end of the installation process. The install log even mentions installation is complete. Also tried installing EA anti cheat repair tool, run it as admin etc.  And as mentioned in other posts, everything else works fine. Including a full blown virtual lab VM's loading the PC for entire days on disk, memory and CPU.  But try a BTF5 installation BAM, HARD reset of the PC, like pressing the ON/OFF Button really quickly.

  • Had the same problem with BTF 1. Solved it by changing my power plan back to balanced from the ultimate power plan created by winutil.

I am not using any 3rd party tools to change the powerplan. turned off unnecessary stuff for pc, like pci-e powersavings etc. Not to turn off ssd's within minutes since that is pointless with an ssd.  That stuff does not really save power on a PC.I did leave normal CPU throttling on. BTF V has ran flawlessly on the same exact system for nearly a year with the same settings. Only thing changed are the normal monthly windows updates and the updates from EA-side.   To be complete, also updated the graphics driver, which is updated manually roughly every 4 months. So i am not running an ancient GPU driver.
