FPS Drops and Freezes Periodically

Greetings. I've been getting frequent fps drops and freezes (approx. every 15-20 seconds) on Battlefield V and even 1. I thought initially that they were shader caching stutters, but the issues persisted after a 40 minute game on the same map. My specs are as follows:

Windows 11 on an M.2 SSD

i5 7400

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050ti

16 GB RAM (I think at 2400Mhz).

These aren't anything to write home about, but it should be fine. God knows the game was better on Linux before the anti-cheat update, without all these stutters. I'm not sure on which logs I need, so I would be glad if anybody could tell me what is needed. Thanks!

  • Hello @ScarIssue,

    Have you tried reinstalling your game and updating your CPU and GPU drivers?

  • Greetings. I have updated my drivers through Snappy Driver Installer and my GPU drivers through the Nvidia App, and yet the issue seems to persist. I will try reinstalling the game when I get home, if absolutely necessary, but the problem also happens on a fresh install of Battlefield 1. I'd like to note that unrelated and somewhat demanding games run totally fine.

    @ScarIssue,

    So you only experience this issue in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V? What other games do you play that are considered more demanding?

    Best regards,

  • Total War: Three Kingdoms and Age of Mythology: Retold come to mind. These games run perfectly fine. I'm actually getting expected performance out of Battlefield, save for the freezes and/or fps drops every couple of seconds.

    @ScarIssue,

    The issue has to be linked with your PC specs, unfortunately there is nothing more you can do.

  • The issue is in the new EA Anticheat implementatio in both BF1 and BFV. Many users are affected from this with very good pcs as well, so configuration is not the issue.

    I think by turning off all background activites in the EA APP.

  • The issue is certainly unrelated to the configuration and disabling the background services in the EA App unfortunately didn't solve the issue. It still plays horribly.
