How come when I try to play Battlefield V it tells me I need to upgrade, I own the game through game sharing but can’t play multiplayer modes. (I think it has something to do with the trial still being attached to my account but I’m not sure)

I think you're right about it being due to a trial marker being on your account, as that's what it sounds like to me.
This is something EA Help should be able to assist with, so it'd be worth getting in touch. If they can't help, then Xbox Support should be able to instead.
