Packet loss issues

So the first thing I'll do is list my PC Specs

I'm running an 4.2ghz AMD Processor on a Asus ROG Crosshair V Formula Z, I have a  Nvidia 980Ti with the latest drivers (I've tried multiple drivers to see if that would fix the issue, which it hasn't.) I also have 24GB of ram; the game is running off of one of my 1TB SSD's. So when I'm playing online I'm getting those 3 overlapping boxes that seem to indicate packet loss. I've tried everything I can think of to solve the issue and nothing has worked. They're always a dark orange/red color even when I'm in a server where my latency is less than 15ms.  I've run multiple tests outside of the game to check and see if I'm experiencing any packet-loss and I'm not, I've pinged  a plethora of severs upwards of 500 times each and every time it's come back with 0% loss. So I'm just wondering if there's anything else I can try? Several people suggested trying different video card drivers, which I did even though that really shouldn't have any affect in regards to packet loss, but I did anyways to see if it affected it at all, which it didn't. If anyone has any other ideas or input it would be greatly appreciated!

If you have tried many of solution and other games are not experiencing the same problems one can assume its a game specific problem probably not caused by the user. In that case it might still be a network capacity issue (test smaller servers) on both client or server side or a server throttling / game code issue (game problem). Also one could check if playing at different times can change this problem or even remove it. I too have run into the problems you describe and hope something can be done about this asap dough i am not sure if it is entirely up to the game or servers and not some other unforeseen issue causing this....to be continued

  • Packet loss is a term used if parts of the data do not travel completely in order to the destination on a network. Or in other words the communication is disrupted. On busy hours on old copper line networks on which a large part of the world wide web is based on there can be connection problems from time to time. Servers can have hickups too and net- and game-code can also make sure that things go slower then one would hope. Other times it is up to the serverpark network capacity and client-system and LAN to be fast enough to communicate at a high enough speed to play.

What you can try as test:

-make sure system uses not to much network in the background and rule out system lag

-Test a few network drivers and force GB/s LAN if possible

-disable WiFi , connect directly to network

-Reset router, Enable PnP in the router

-Update Router firmware (advanced user only)

-Update MoBo BioS (advanced user only)

Thank you for your response, without trying to sound like an a******, I'm extremely knowledgeable when it comes to networks and how they work, so I'm well aware of what packet loss is. Unfortunately I've tried nearly all of your suggestions and they haven't seemed to make any difference.

  • Hey @Diebarbarian, can you do an Uo-trace for us and we will see where the issue is causing the packet loss for you.

Let me know how that works out. 🙂

  • Hi, came searching for this issue.

The week of launch I could play find on my adsl connection.

In the past week or so I now get 40%+ packet loss to ALL apex servers and worse ping.

I have good connections to other FPS games like overwatch and pubg and mobas like LOL. No issue there, just Apex!

Was fine shortly after launch, feels like something changed somewhere?

    Tracert looks fine also..

  • Atic,

This season only I have been experiencing terrible packet loss on PS4. I’ve already done everything on my end including getting my IPS to come out and replace wiring plus modem/router.

I can go play Warzone & it’s fine only Apex seems to be the issue.

Can you please help me cause I’m really debating on just leaving this game alone.

    Thank you,

  • I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

If you have any issues with Battlefield, please make a new topic about your problems and what kind of steps you have tried to solve them.

    /Atic
