Re: Quitting/Closing/Exiting Battlefield V Game is Freezing up my Computer System

Hey @Deygus

I'm seeing that you need to update the drivers. Your Nvidia driver is outdated and needs the latest one that recently came out this month.

It looks like it's recognizing both your Intel and Nvidia card too, so make sure you add your Nvidia card as the preferred way to play your game. It can be done with the GeForce Experience.

Normally, in most cases, I try to be nice but at this point, I am just flat out frustrated and feeling very insulted by you guys at EA. You clearly did not read my full post about the problem. If you had you would know that I did all of that already and there was still an issue.

    Case in Point:

What have I tried to fix this issue?
    - I reinstalled windows
    - I reinstalled the games
    - I did a verify file check for the games
    - I tried origin beta
    - I tried updating and rolling back my graphics driver

And to no avail the issue has since continued..

How in the world is it recognizing both? Maybe if I set the game program separately that might work, I will try that.

The only way I know how is via the Nvidia Control Panel via Global or Program Settings per application there.

However, that still did not fix the issue and I tried that already and the latest driver is garbage which is the reason I am on an older driver. Whatever update they did broke the game entirely for me. It was killing the framerate even on low graphics for everything so bad that the game was completely unplayable even in single player.

I am still convinced this is a game problem because as I said, none of my other games do that. I have never in my life ever had a game that I couldn't quit therefore it is clearly a game problem with BFV and BF1 somewhere. If it weren't a game issue then all of my other games would have this problem.

When Nvidia releases the next driver update past 12/3 then I will try again but I'm willing to bet my life that there will still be an issue, either way, I go with it. This is just a very strange problem. I have never had any other game I've ever played ever do this at all and I've played thousands of games.

Here's proof that I am overriding everything to use my Nvidia Card below or at least this is the only way I know how to set that:

    Global Setting via Control Panel:

BFV Game Program Settings  is even using that but it's on auto-select for it:

What I will do is try changing it to just use the Nvidia GPU for the program settings but I seriously doubt that will resolve the problem even though I hope it will.

I do sincerely apologize at my attitude but, please understand from my point of view that this is VERY frustrating that only BFV & BF1 are doing this.

If you know of something else to check by all means let me know.

  • It looks like there was an updated driver from 2 days ago that I didn't see yet so I will give that one a try but I am pretty doubtful about that too but, I will still try it anyway.

    UPDATE:

So I just updated to the newest graphics driver, same settings as before and set to use my Nvidia GPU for both global and game as before.

And oh... go figure... The issue still happened yet again.................................................

There is CLEARLY something wrong with the game!

If it was my computer then every game I have ever played would be giving me this issue!

Okay, thank you, I will take a look at that as soon as I can thank you.

And yeah, honestly it is very frustrating, I just don't understand why it's the only game doing this to me. I have around 50 games installed and yet BFV/BF1 are the only games that have done this on my gaming laptop.

I have the Acer Predator G9.

What I do for now is just tab out of the game and close it manually instead of the exit button in the game menu. That's the only alternative solution I found to work around the problem.

    Hey Blueberry,

At first I thought I may have found a cause linked to Google Chrome up until I installed it because BFV was working by itself up until then when I re-installed Chrome and tested out some chrome extensions which didn't really make any sense so I reinstalled windows again to check further and of the issue but, after further attempts the issue continues even after multiple installs and checking the programs one by one that I need installed between gaming and work. I even found an update for my bios but no changes.

I noticed for a while the game would work fine up until I reboot for some reason and that's when everything goes wrong. Once I do that even if I don't change anything then the game still freezes up even with just origin and bfv or bf1 installed and nothing else.

I believe the issue is somewhere within the bf game, the latest version of windows 10, and nvidia mobile cards I guess...

I'm done messing around with this on my computer as it's going to break my computer and I am convinced there is no fix for it.

Nah, I meant I'm done trying to reboot/reinstall stuff just to figure out the cause, that is probably gonna end up breaking my computer.

The game works at least, I just have to alt + tab out of it then close it manually.

I would contact you guys but they're probably just gonna run me through the same thing again. I'll reach out to someone on Wednesday though just to see where it goes and thank you for the help so far blueberry, I appreciate that much. Wish there was an easier quicker fix lol but we both know technology is far from perfect. It just sucks that I have to manually close it... oh well I guess..
