Re: Why Do People Hate Battlefield 5 So Much?

I do personally enjoy BFV and play it regularly. While I don't hate it I'd have to admit that some elements spoil it a bit for me:

- Attrition: Just not a fan. I appreciate they tried something different but simply not for me.

- Vehicle damage: Same as the above. I just preferred the older style where you can fully repair without using a repair station.

- Round balance: I just don't feel that rounds are balanced all that well. However I know this is something the devs are trying a few things with.

- The setting: WW2 was probably a mistake. It's a very well known setting and while they did try to bring in less known battles I don't feel it worked. Now we have an incomplete WW2 game.

- Animations: Too many for me and in some respects they're limiting. For example it's quite often difficult to hop in a squad mate's plane and parachute behind enemy lines. Quite often you'll overshoot and end up outside the playable area.

- Visibility: A personal problem most likely but I still sometimes struggle seeing enemies.

- The gamemode carousel: I hated that many gamemodes were temporary.

- Matchmaking: Gave up using it a long time ago as it has a habit of putting me in empty servers.

- Grand Operations: Nowhere near as enjoyable as Operations in BF1.

I do like lots in this game too though, such as Tides of War, the weapons and vehicles, most of the maps, the customisations, buddy revives and it's a lovely looking game.

@MrNifler Hopefully and it'll be interesting to hear some info when it starts getting promoted.
  • @ElliotLH Yes! Super hyped but a Battlefield 6 discussion is kind of off topic for this thread. Not that it isn’t fun it’s just not on topic.

People take WWII especially seriously, and in the online outrage era of internet, I'm not surprised thr community is divided.

I don't think the game deserves as much hate as it is getting but there were a few design choices that I just personally don't agree with.

Attrition could have been better imo (too many crates everywhere), and longer animations have really messed me up as a mainly solo player.

While I like what they did with spotting, I can't for the life of me see any enemies; they might as well be invisible its so bad.

Warzone isn't much better from thr sounds of it, but I think thr biggest factor affecting enjoyment in BF (at least on PC) is how anti-cheat is implimented
