Problem still persists.
Tactical Conquest is the current playlist for Weekly Missions, so traffic should be higher than usual, and yet...
Last Saturday evening I hit quick-play and the matchmaker immediately put me on a North American server, even though I'm from Europe. This NA server had about 40 players on, of which about 30 had high ping and presumably were from Europe like myself. I quit to check the server list and it showed 3 DICE Tactical Conquest servers in Europe (of which 2 were either full or nearly full), and 5 DICE Tactical Conquest servers in North America (of which, again, 2 were either full or nearly full), despite North America having a much smaller player base than Europe, on PC.
Demand in Europe was high (evening, peak time) and in North America it was low (morning, fewer players), yet the matchmaker ignored the local servers with open slots and it sent me and a bunch of other players across the ocean. It makes no sense.
In contrast 24 hours later, Sunday evening, there was 8 full DICE Tactical Conquest servers in Europe and 1 in North America. This is a much more natural and expected distribution of players between the two regions, given the time-zones and the difference in active players count.
Another glaring incident I had was last Thursday afternoon. Soon after the TOW playlist changed to Tactical Conquest I could see 3 full DICE Tactical Conquest servers in Europe, so I hit matchmaking and... it placed me on an Oceanian server with 4 other players, three of which had >300 ping like myself, so presumably also from Europe.
For over two months now the matchmaker has been going haywire, the round reports have not been fetching, and the Multiplayer menu tiles have been missing. I'd be nice if someone from EA or DICE at least acknowledged these issues.
