I agree. Video games are to have fun and do whatever we want. Real, fake or make belive.
As an update to this issue, it looks like ratings editing is possible at least in offline franchise but I would assume also online franchise. The attached image shows options for setting up a dynasty. One of the options is "Player edit permission" which is set on Commissioner only but presumably "everyone has permission" is also an option. If you look in the top right at the clarification text, it says "This setting controls whether or not a league member can edit player ratings on their team. Regardless of this setting, only the commissioner can edit ratings on other teams."
This is great news for everyone, but especially solo players. The only bummer is if you are playing with a trusted group of friends you can't open up ratings editing for all teams for them as well. It should be noted that this was in an offline dynasty, so it is unknown to me yet if this option is the same in online dynasty. Would be kind of a bummer if it's only in offline dynasty, and if Teambuilder teams end up being available only for online dynasty, but we'll have to wait and see. It should also be noted that the explanatory text for a similar option in Madden (second attached image) is different not a copy and paste and is referring to X Factor abilities which this game doesn't have, so it at least seems that player rating editing is available in some capacity.
So it would seem that either the videos we saw were indeed an early build that just didn't have the feature yet and it was planned all along, or they heard our complaints and added it. Next on the docket is news on numbering...

We shall see they broke me when they didn't release for PC. I hope they don't fumble this.
- DANGERGOOSE11 year agoSeasoned Ace@antpboy12 Yeah, best to keep wary for new info still and wait for actual release. I've seen conflicting reports from streamers answering questions on this in the last couple hours. But if it turns out we cannot edit ratings after seeing that image that says commissioners can enable it, then I expect a lot of pushback on this from the community, and EA would need to enable it not only to save face but also to even get a purchase from people like me.

@DANGERGOOSE1 maybe streamers were told to be quiet about it until release since it's a sensitive subject.
@AskBrad looks like we can and were misinformed 😏

made an account just to reply to this .. i’ve been stressing CRAZY knowing there is limited roster customization for this game .. it’s 50% of the game for me .. very important .. having no create player was a BUMMER.. not being able to edit ratings of current players was a BUMMER..
but not being able to edit fake auto generated recruits number is asanine
NOT Looking forward to my 5 star WR who is 5’9 175 lbs be forced to wear #87 like it’s 1998 because EA allows us to edit recruit names but not numbers
two of my starting DB’s numbers being in the 40’s is also aesthetically pleasing
and I love that my kicker and punter get coveted numbers like #2 and #5
there’s nothing normal or realistic about that and it’s so avoidable

@YoungSeigeYeah, I am confused about realism point lol. That means that no other team should be allowed to win the NC but Michigan. 😆 The other issue is what if an under the radar player blows up this year would we have to start our Dyansty over for that player's ratings boost? None of this makes any sense.

@antpboy12 I don't buy the realism excuse at all. IMO it could be a cover as an artistic choice but the real reason is they are holding it out in case they don't get the rights to coaches and sales plateau after next year's game. Then they add editing to the game for CFB 27 and act like it's a big deal new feature. I hope I am wrong about that but it would be a very AAA sports dev thing to do.
Just to emphasize how ridiculous the realism argument for taking away this feature is, is it realistic that Colorado is one of the best teams in the game? Is it realistic that I can put Notre Dame in the SEC or any other number of conference moves that would never happen? Is it realistic that I can rename a white Canadian player "Kentavius Payne" or "Xi Jinping"? Beyond that, all of those things should be allowed no matter how unrealistic they may be because it's a game and everyone should be able to create their own experience. I remember watching videos of old Madden and NCAA games where people would create entire teams of 7'0" players and put them against a team of all 5'6" players. That's not something I would ever personally do in a dynasty or outside of it, but it was entertaining as hell to watch and I'm sure the guy had fun setting it up.@Argta769 The people who have accessed the game so far either may not have been allowed to address it that much or are casuals and wouldn't think to. The one guy who did address it is the guy who supposedly gave the realism excuse. Streamers are playing with incomplete builds so there is still hope, but I'm very nervous about this. Once the game comes if we can't edit this stuff we really need to continuously @ CFB official twitter account as well as the devs themselves. I don't know if EA even pays attention to these forums aside from bugs and giving generic replies like if a PC version is planned or not.

Yes, this game will be absolute TRASH if they don’t allow creation/edit on non NIL players/ made up players. Really should tick off everyone. The fact that no well known streamer has addressed this is frustrating. Do your job EA!!!!

I just saw a YouTube video by the big guy and he shows that you can edit equipment, ratings, names, height, weight and body. Of none NIL players. You can not can NOT edit numbers, skin color, faces,. This is on the roster of the game not the new recruits but since new recruits are not NIL they should be the same.
Does anyone have any newer news???
- antpboy121 year agoSeasoned Veteran@Madden2255 I don't know yet people are having issues with Dyansty mode but from what I have been hearing it doesn't look good for us offline players.
