With all the hype around the wear and tear system I'm shocked that this isn't in the game. It's been a while, ten years or so, but I'm pretty sure at least some of the older versions of the game had this option.

Yep they had a feature to sub in 2nd-string/backups for offense/defense/both. Was great for getting second-stringers playing time w/o having to micro-manage everything.
Coming from the battlefield area, it's probably considered a legacy feature and we have brutal expectations.

I played in a game tonight where I got up on a FCS team by 49 and then at the start of the 4th quarter the 2nd team was magically in the game...so it's in the game but I'd like to control the functionality of it EA!!

I had a game vs Ohio as ball state. Up by 40 5 years in. Still no subs. Daf. I'm lost as to y no mass subs...

The mass substitution was added but you have to mass sub offense and defense in or out at the same time. In the NCAA series you could sub them separately, much better in my opinion.

@Anobix A fellow Battlefield fan I see. I always laugh when the facebook groups I'm in specifically for CFB 25 keep telling me to cut EA some slack and just shut up and play the game. Hard to do when I'm seeing them execute the same playbook they used for Madden 25 (2014) and after seeing what they've done to the Battlefield franchise.
Tbf the Battlefield stuff isn't ALL EA as DICE has gone downhill as well, but EA certainly has a hand in it. And while they have improved 2042 it still isn't an actual Battlefield game and probably should have been released under a different name. Plus I doubt as many people would be pissed off about it if they didn't hype the game as "a love letter to Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 fans."- Anobix2 years agoSeasoned Ace
@DANGERGOOSE1 haha, yep, been playing BF games since the OG 1942. Definitely my favorite multiplayer shooter series. But yeah, you're right, a good chunk of the failure of 2042 was to do with expectations, failed promises, failure of content, the "love letter to the fans" meme, etc.
I just hope that the expectations of CFB25 get met in some capacity. I wouldn't expect all of these features to be added within a couple weeks of launch, but I'm happy to wait to see if there's a sale around black Friday or whatever to pick up my copy if a lot of the complaints and issues have been worked out. I have plenty of backlog to play through that I don't need to drop $70 to mess around with a game I'd be mildly annoyed by.
