Immersion
For better immersion to the game, please consider the following:
1.) Ability to edit jersey numbers. There are a ton of numbers that are not accurate for the real life rosters. If it has an issue to do with their likeness, wouldn’t the fact that EA doesn’t have the accurate numbers be a detriment to that? Most of your consumers want to edit the players to match what is in real life. We would have it more accurate than what is currently rushed out there.
*Please note that there is a bug that when you edit players apparel in dynasty mode, it may change other players numbers incorrectly as a result.
2.) Updated face masks. A ton of players in particular, wear the speed flex helmet, with the robot side bars being indented in.
*Please note, there is still an issue with the speed flex helmet, for example, where the stripes down the middle overlay where their should be a visible indentation. Teams like Texas it doesn’t effect, however, a team like Michigan, the helmet looks unrealistic.
3.) Ability to do a leg sleeve. It’s becoming more of a popular look in college football. There is already an ability to do a base layer. It would be amazing if you could break that down to do one leg or the other as well as both. Similar to how arm sleeves are chosen.
***Please also note that the customization menus when editing players could be revamped to be easier to navigate. In particular when choosing facemasks, you shouldn’t have to cycle through every facemask to find the one you want, but instead just the facemasks that pertain the the chosen helmet. Similar to the layout of older versions of the game.
4.) Formation Subs. This is probably the biggest issue with the game this far. Being able to position certain players, in certain formations was tremendous in older versions of the game. It really creates a realistic feel as a virtual coach to be able to put certain players in areas in which they excel.
5.) OL blocking. For the most part I havnt had many frustrations with this aspect of the game. I feel like it has been pretty good. I have noticed in some run plays when offensive lineman get to the second level, instead of blocking the obvious defensive player, they might make a b-line for someone that isn’t even apart of the play. That can be really annoying.
I do believe that just implementing these features would help tremendously with immersion. Don’t underestimate the passion of your customer base. I wouldn’t be surprised if a vast majority of gamers, take time to customize their favorite program and other popular players from around the nation. If players are put into the game and given the wrong number, without the ability to correct it, turns a lot of customers off. Especially when dynasty is the most popular game mode in the game. There are gamers looking at the young freshman and sophomores on the roster to become stars of the program in year 2 or 3 of a dynasty. If we don’t have the ability to change numbers to the point where they are accurate (something that should be done on behalf of EA) it makes the realism feel off. Maybe as a player gets older and develops into a star, they may change numbers as they probably would in real life. A number itself shouldn’t be subject to a players likeness, and if it is, then EA needs to do a better job to make sure they are all accurate. Hell give me an afternoon and I could probably make sure all the real players you have in the game, (which at this point should be the only players on the roster) have the appropriate number.
Bottom line, this customer base is really just insanely passionate college football fans, who want this game to be as realistic as it can be. By implementing these features, it would bring so much more realism to a game that already has a great foundation.
