Schemes vs Playbooks

When in Dynasty I can go to "Coach" > "Scheme & Playbook".  In this view I see a non editable Offensive Scheme and Defensive Scheme.  I then have the ability to choose my Off/Def playbooks.

It appears schemes are inherited by the team I selected with no ability to edit.  In Madden I was able to adjust my Scheme AND playbook.  I'm wondering how these schemes impact things?

1) If my schemes and playbooks don't "jive" do I get negative bonuses, in game or for recruiting?

2) When simming is the Scheme used in place of the playbook?

I thought in Madden Scheme presented bonuses when they matched your playbook, or at least it identified players who would work for your team in FA.  If recommendations foe recruiting are driven off a non matching scheme that's annoying.

Just curious how this works since as a coach I don't necessarily want to be tied to a teams current Scheme setup.  Think how Michigan was when RichRod's schemes were significantly different from what Harbaugh did.  I want my team in my image so to speak not a previous coaches.

Thanks,

  • I did go back through Deep Dive and it does say schools have scheme preferences which are used in building a coaching "score" which determines which schools offer which coaches jobs. I haven't seen if it impacts anything else, but my guess is this means we won't be able to change the school scheme unfortunately.

Hopefully we can get confirmation if the scheme has other impacts in recruiting. My guess is it impacts recommended recruits but that the recruits care about your actual play style which is statistically based.

However your statistics could be impacted if you sim some of your games as our league group does.  In Madden the understanding was non matching playbooks to your scheme had a negative performance in simulation due to it only using scheme matching plays from your playbook.  IE an triple option playbook tied to a spread scheme would perform poorly on avg.  Also this could shift your playing style stats from passing to run or visa versa impacting recruiting.

Hopefully EA can give us some insight onto this so we can at least play accordingly if we won't be allowed to define our schools scheme once we become a coach there.
