I’m with you. I’m shocked it wasn’t fixed in this update. It tells me they made some deal where real players numbers can’t be changed so it’s locked on everything. I would assume the customize we have after this update may be it for atleast this year. It does suck no argument.
I am really happy they added the ability to change player ratings. We deserve that level of customization.
However, it’s broken, because of the way players develop.
Say I want to make a 1 star recruit an 80 overall. They will never progress for the rest of their career, because they’ve hit their stat caps. So that means, edit a player once, edit them every single year.
I never understood the stat caps in the first place.

@ajames09 great… didn’t even get this far yet. That’s definitely broken lol. We just can’t get anything correct on this game. I’m still playing with this addition now, but good gosh if this ain’t fixed all the way next year it’s a no go, and I mean full customization of every aspect of fake players. No preorder until I hear it from you all first lol.

I really like the skill group caps. Adds variety to recruits. Some have a lower ceiling than others. More depth to the game. I think this was an awesome idea.
I suppose if you just want to edit all your players so you have a superteam, I could see why you would want to edit ratings and remove skill caps, but I don't see the fun in that. Not saying your wrong, or that your playing the game the wrong way, you should be able to request changes that suit the way you want to play. Just don't assume everyone feels the same way you do. I would rather it be a challenge then cheat the system to gain an advantage. Would be nice if they could find a way to appease both types of players. Maybe a toggle ln dynasty settings?

I think people have the wrong idea of the a ility to edit generated recruits. The recruiting system is imperfect to start with, as is the team building aspects. Anytime people are building Kennesaw State and Buffalo or sub any bad low tier conference team into a playoff contender in 2 or 3 years, the system is obviously broken. User input and poor recruiting logic by the powerhouse teams (teams signing 2 QBs and 2 more in the transfer portal), allows for 1 star programs to steal 3 star players consistently. You have to impose house rules on yourself just to simulate the reality of recruiting at a bad school like that. Then on top of all of that it doesn't matter if you're simply good at the game and win games that the program would really lose. The idea of editing recruits being unrealistic is a necessity portrayed as a luxury.
It's needed to tone down the QBs with sub 4.3 speed or to change the position of players to balance out teams and make the ratings make sense. I think the most important thing though is the fact that the restrictions/limitations this game has should've been covered in interviews and feature rollout prior to release. I know that's bad for business and that no company would do that, but it's pro-consumer and it would've gained them more good will from the consumer base. People would be informed about their purchase and more patient about any/all fixes forthcoming. What they did was extremely disingenuous and it has caused the thing that it always does which is, pushing the agreived party which are us the consumers, to debate which one of these missing features is most important for the game to be tolerable for us individually. I feel like there should be EA trauma support groups across the world at this point lol!

I agree with so many of you here. Give us full customization to all new recruits and everyone is happy…
in the future here’s a few things I think we need in dynasty.
- difficulty sliders.
think 2k myleague. There we can customize all kinds of settings. Skill Caps, player progression, budgets, contract deciding weight. Etc.
we could be doing this for this game to. Recruiting to easy? Crank it up overall. To hard bring it down a touch. Want it to be easier for top programs and even harder for smaller programs move that slider or vice versa. Want 1 star recruits to have a lower cap, but more 5 starts to be more OP adjust those sliders. Want players across the board to progress quicker well guess what there is a slider for that. you get my point let every aspect have a slider so those can tailor their game to their liking. My league shatters everyone at this.
-sim logic sliders
where do is start… sim engine is busted. Give us sliders for upsets. So we can dial it in to our liking. Want chaos make it. Want week 7 to suddenly be upset week crank the setting up that week and return to default week 8. Let’s address pass vs run slider. Heck we need that for just our team we control to start but it would be nice to have sliders to correct rushing stats vs passing stats across the league. Obviously scheme can play a part.-Player customization
let us edit everything on new recruits. It would fix so many people’s complaints. I’d goes as far as let us edit injuries. Either remove one or add one and the length of injury. 2k does this perfectly. Let me edit their abilities too. We have all these new abilities and can’t add any ourselves. Let us pick how our players level up like madden. Let us edit their wants and what is important to them in the recruiting piece. This bleeds into the transfer portal. Not enough top players at top programs are leaving. Think Gabriel from Ou to Oregon. Think Bond from Alabama to Texas. Both guys were good players at good programs leaving. If we can edit this stuff and have some new things added to existing we can go and create storylines for players to hit the transfer portal or not. Maybe I could have created a fall out between Dion and his son. I get him to come to Colorado State and we destroy pops team. The possibilities are endless.
I know this probably should have been its own thread and may get taken down, but this thread has gotten so much momentum I wanted to throw some of my thoughts out there and get everyone else feedback in hopes EA sees this for the now and the future of this game. My best advice EA go play 2k my league and look at only the customization they give the user. Copy that and you have one of the greatest games created. I’m realistic to know it took 2k years to make that game mode fully built out but you guys are way behind the 8 ball. Time to get to work.
Lastly, Im open to being the games director next year. I certainly can fix the lack of response from developers to its community day one(not bashing community managers not y’all’s fault) but the product has been an L and the fact we can’t get patch notes until after the patch is disrespectful, and the fact we have no clue what’s being worked on next if anything.

You have some really good points here. One of the things I just simply don't understand is why they made mental abilities static. Firstly why is it that new recruits can walk on campus with Mental abilities, but players who are already in the base rosters that don't have any can't develop them. It's actual kind of stupid to think that a player can't "develop' the mindset to handle big road games or be a true leader of a team. Carson Beck has Headstrong, Field General and Winning Time. Would he have had those as a freshman?
Two of the top RFr QBs this year are Nico Iamaleava and Arch Manning. Nicole has physical abilities but Arch has no abilities at all. Now I know they can develop physical abilities but neither will develop mental abilities? Who even thinks to create a system like that on purpose.

That's all I wanted, and that's what we have now. The toggle to turn on ratings editing actually works now.

You’re cold bro. I really hope we all push this idea. Let’s get you into that position. Plus, I’d love to be able to gain every coach ability. We should be able to have the choice to have our coach be good at everything if that’s what we choose to do. Especially if I’m playing offline by myself.
