Coaching carousel is really messed up right now. The only way to insure you get the job you want is to select it at dynasty creation.
There should be a way for you to let a school know you are interested in a job before bowl season. I also have to laugh at how all firings/retires happen at the same time, in real life they can and do happen all season long.
