Conference realignment also breaks the scheduler. Like you just swap Maryland out for Notre Dame in the Big Ten, and all of a sudden Michigan doesn't play Ohio State, USC doesn't play UCLA, Minnesota doesn't play Wisconsin, etc etc.
I could kind of understand the excuse about scheduling being a very technically complex task a decade ago, but come on. A decade and two console generations later this shouldn't be an issue. There are so many sophisticated schedulers. Honestly, just add rules to the existing scheduling logic so the game doesn't generate the ridiculous schedules we have.
Its such a shame, because custom conferences is one of those features that really grabbed my interest in these games in the first place, and for it to be so poorly executed is really disappointing, on top of everything else.
I experienced if you take all teams away from independent conference, it will totally delete the Sunbelt conference and those teams will no longer be able to play in the dynasty!
Also it made me play the MAC championship on same week as a conference game! It made me play the championship 2 and then made me play the regular season conference game at the end of my schedule that was same week as army Navy game!
