Online Dynasty, deleted a player from the game, after I set my depth chart!

We are in year four of our online dynasty, we did all of our Off-Season activities, from transfer portal, position changes, "encourage transfers", and set the schedules started the new season. 

So now we are at week 0, I am going to set my depth chart. Now I receuited a Freshman WR his name was Steve Vick (name that CFB25 made), i remeber him because I said to my group oh look Michael Vick's younger cousin is now on my team. Well, after I set the depth chart Steve Vick was the 4th WR on the chart. I exited the depth chart screen. I entered the "view Roster" screen to change his number to "7"... to my surprise he was not there on the WR list, then I go back and check the depth chart and he was not there. I was crazy confused and like what the heck happened. 

Can you give me some insight on why this happened please?
