Play Style should not be stat based

I get why it is, but it probably shouldn't be. Consider this: a Pass Protect LG decided he didn't like my playing style because I gave up too many sacks. But my style isn't to take sacks. The problem is I need better linemen to protect my passer, which is why I'm trying to recruit him. Similarly, a Man to Man Corner wants me to get interceptions, but again my team isn't great and isn't getting a lot of these, not for lack of trying. And it's not my "style" to not get interceptions. Every team want's turnovers.

So play style should look at things like playbook used, and frequency of plays called. A Pass Protect lineman should identify how often we pass. Receiving Running Backs at how often RBs are targeted, not their total catches. Do we call more Man coverage or Zone coverage? Do I blitz a lot with linebackers, or drop them in coverage? Receivers may like a spread playbook over am option run, etc.

This may just be my opinion, but I don't think my inability to be good should be my considered my playing style.

  • @Samzo77Agreed!

    • Fix the "my school" screen to update accurately every week. Things are seriously buggy with that menu.
      • The wrong calculation stats are being displayed for various positions
      • The stats are not updating appropriately. Through 2 games I have given up 2 sacks yet my sacks allowed says 24. I have 7 sacks on defense through 2 games, but the my school says I have 10.... yet my playing style for a power rusher is F even though 7 is good for top 25 in the country through those first 2 weeks.
    • Make play style calculations have layers to them just like your other "my school" pitches
      • Downs Played for that position should be a key stat for the calculation so they go to programs that will utilize their position
      • Calculations should be individualized for archetypes based on what they want (not having all qb archetypes care about pass yards only)
      • Playbook types should be used in the calculation to go along with downs played
    • Stats should be individualized.... not just done for the whole team. TE's shouldn't care how many receiving yards my team has if we don't play any TE's.
QB - passing yards no matter what the archetype is, playbook type should matter as well as rush yards
HB - both power and elusive are based on rush yards rather than multiple rushing stats and playbook type
FB - Utility should be run and pass stats for FB's only plus playbook type and even downs played, stats should be FB Based
WR - Cumulative Downs played for entire unit of WR's plus playbook style and receiving stats for WR's
TE - Downs Played plus playbook style and receiving stas for TE's
OL - pass protector archetype appears to be going off of "sacks allowed" rather than playbook type and passing yards. The calculation should have all these passing stats factor in.
OL - Power v Agile should be playbook dependent as well as rushing stats
DL - I cannot even tell what factors in here because my school screen is bugged and telling me "rushing yards per game" and "sacks allowed" wich makes no sense
LB - Pass coverage is set to "tackles for loss". Field General is "sacks"... this is just lazy. This should be downs played plus playbook style plus defensive stats.
Secondary - I can't tell because my screen is visually bugged. They all just say "sacks"
K/P - I can't tell because my screen is visually bugged. They say "interceptions" and "tackles for loss"
