Re: 5* Gem Prospect = 74?

@hawksnc10 Would it be more realistic to have all of them initially rated in such a small range? In real life there are plenty of guys these recruiting services claim are ready to start day 1 and then they end up not doing so because they weren't as good as initially thought.

It doesn't mean they are a bust either. 5-stars are far from immune to being busts and it is definitely realistic to have some come in lower rated than expected. It's realistic for some of them to never develop as expected either while others do.

It would be too static if all 5-stars were guaranteed to come in as a 79-82 overall. Some should absolutely have a chance at coming in as a 73 overall just as some should have a chance of coming in as an 85 overall. Both shouldn't be close to the norm, but it should be possible if we're trying to replicate real life.

Agree.  These are all assumptions based off kids playing against other kids.  When they show up to college just because they were classified as a 5* doesn't mean they ultimately are ready to start and/or play.  It just means there is a much higher liklihood of that being the case.

Additionally saw a video on simulation gaming network how the game is developing players at a rate that doubles the number of 80+ ovr players within 4 years.  In short players develop too fast in the game and the XP sliders almost don't do anything to slow this down except for the highest tier # of players.  IE a 74 might otherwise be a player good enough to start and or should at least get playing time if the broader population of players weren't improving better than they should making Freshman contextually worse.

Also quick jab, a 5* would probably start on Iowa's offense, but not necessarily their defense 🤪.

@SnickerLicker21I think that in this case, I would prefer less realism then.

Or, put a different way, what even is the point of Scouting players in the game if even Scouted 5* Gem players can be busts?

Multiple 5* Gems in the same class....a 73 rating? Why bother scouting at all if it is that inaccurate?

Edit: I will say that this is yet another thing that emphasizes the need to be able to edit players/recruits. For some people, what I said up above is fully reasonable. They're fine with the randomness. For me, I was really excited about my incoming class and, honestly, am feeling a bit cheated.

I wish that this game was on PC. I'd be searching for mods right and left right now for the game's shortcomings.
