RTG Dumb Logic
Ok so I have a major issue with how unbalanced and not fun the experience of being a deep threat wide receiver is in Road to Glory. There should be no reason why I start as a 5-star Elite player and I grind away trying to make sure I have good games (7+ rec./100+ yds/1+ TD) just to save up enough skill points for a whole season to boost my "quickness" and then my actual speed rating goes from an 86 to an 87. It is by far the most disrespectful and stupid part of the entire experience for a DEEP THREAT to start off with 86 speed in the first place as a 5-star recruit when there are 73 overall true freshman wide receivers on the same team that will have a higher speed rating than you and their archetype is PHYSICAL!!! That is infuriating especially when EA and everyone and their mother knows speed is still the most broken rating so they completely nerf you to the point where you can't outrun linebackers if they have even the slightest angle on you. And no, boosting acceleration to 98 after using 12 skill points to do so doesn't mean sugar-honey-ice-tea when after getting pressed at the line you're immediately running at your 87 top speed (that you worked oh so hard to get for a full season) not getting past a soul. If that isn't making you want to stay as far away from "deep threat" as possible then let's not forget to mention the dogwater A.I. that your QB will have (regardless of their overall and ratings) just chucking the ball out in a half a second to anyone as long as it isn't you. And if you're lucky enough to run half of your route then the A.I. will throw it to you when you haven't finished your route or even called for the ball...Yay we're having fun. Oh and don't forget that the QB is literally programmed to act like he's getting rushed even in a clean pocket so there is no gearing the experience towards making sure you have a chance to actually be a receiver since you'll be breaking your routes short or completely every time just to make sure you can get a chance at a catch. Guaranteed for you to have a Biletnikoff-worthy season you would have to force your QB into throwing 17+ interceptions just on your calls for the ball not to mention the other 12 he'll throw trying to hit other receivers. I don't know what's so hard about tilting sliders to make sure that your QB can get a chance to throw and favoring the player to actually finish the route but out of all the experiences of each archetype for each player this was the most egregious. Wide receiver is one of the most popular positions at the grassroot level so I'm sure there are plenty of people trying to play this and are forced to play the trash that was given to us for an experience. There should be no way any developer (sports title or not) makes a game where their "speedy" character doesn't have speed. 86 speed for a 5-star recruit that's supposed to be your experience. But I can turn on dynasty and find a 3-star recruit with 101 speed and 92 acceleration. I mean how hard is it to give us 93 speed and 95 acceleration? Then have it increase to 97 speed and 98 acceleration. This is a proper reward after you've spent potentially a full season (maybe even longer) not progressing your player at all. That is design done right and it makes sense for something that takes that long to have such a good payoff. But you can't make it make sense as it is now because it doesn't. And the worst part is that it won't be fixed or even noticed. As I write this I'm sure no one with any type of influence at EA will ever read it because the money is already flowing in. EA you are inevitable.
