Custom Playbook Filter Tools and Improvement Request

Since plays can clearly be sorted by type (Run, short pass, RPO) and concept (Mills, power run, triple option) in-game when selecting plays, it would be amazing if EA would update the custom playbook tool with the same searchability and filtering. Imagine how much easier it would be to make your playbook if you could search up all Salem concepts, then filter by formation, set, etc.? Since it's already an aspects of the game, this seems like it would be an easy implementation using a similar system for the full play and formation database.

Making a custom playbook could be improved and streamlined with many things that are already in the game like this. Other small things I would love to see EA add in an update (that have been requested before, I'm sure:

  1. Ability to order formations and plays within our playbooks
  2. The ability to automatically generate a game plan, so we don't have to manually set all coach suggestions
  3. I would love to see the formations and positions in graphics when scrolling through formations

I could probably think of more, but even just a few of these would make making custom playbooks way more fun and efficient. EA, i hope you read these and consider implementing them, especially in an update rather than in the next edition of the game.

  • Please, for the love of God, implement these suggestions. Creating playbooks is far too tedious when just applying much of the same logic already in the game via the play call screen could solve so much of this.

To add, I'd like to sort by primary target (Again, the logic should exist for this as we have play select by player, it'd just need to be by position since the personnel obviously can't be team-specific when creating playbooks). This way, I could quickly setup my formations and game plans to also have some control over target shares.

If I have a dominant WR1, weaker WR2 and really good TE1....this would allow me to quickly setup my pass plays (In each of the game plans) to more heavily lean towards WR1 primary with some TE1 primary sprinkled in and less emphasis on WR2. In addition, if these variables change in my next dynasty season, and I'm more balanced at WR but TE sucks, I can quickly go in and make the necessary adjustments to my game plans (Don't like the idea of having an entire playbook available to me on any play as that's not really realistic or how Teams operate IRL, for the most part). I enjoy doing these things so that I feel like I'm actually a coach of the team in my dynasty since we don't have an actual scouting/game planning mechanic in the mode......yet (hopefully).

  • I’ll refine the suggestion of automatic game plans by saying EA must tie the initial suggestions to how often plays in traditional formations show up in a completed audible set while assigning the plays in specialty formations to those situations. For example, the 4-2-5 defense I had to leave incomplete before leaving for vacation this morning revolves around robbers, spies, Tampa 2s, and a specific blitz from the nickel. It would’ve been great if I only had to assign stuff to the situations that nothing traditionally matches, like bunch.
