CFB 26 Gameplay Feedback Online Issues That Need Attention
The online gameplay in CFB26 still needs a lot of work to feel more realistic, right now it feels a little arcade-ish. There are several major issues that make the game almost unplayable.
Drop backs Are Unrealistic
Users are dropping back 10-20 yards and still throwing accurate lasers. Meanwhile, I’m missing wide open receivers in a clean pocket after calling the perfect play to beat the coverage. I probably have 15-20 videos clipped of me missing wide open WRs running a post vs cover 2 and splitting the safeties or a seam route gs cover 3 or a 9 vs man and the WR has the corner beat by 5-7 yards. There needs to be a mechanic that punishes bad QB play and rewards throwing the ball on time to the right WR given the coverage:
- QB icons should disappear if you drop back more than 7 under center and more than 5 yards in shotgun or sprint backwards to avoid pressure.
- Throwing accuracy should significantly decrease the further you retreat behind the line of scrimmage.
Zone Coverage vs Mesh Concepts
Mesh concepts are far too effective against zone. Mesh is designed to beat man coverage and typically you have a stationary sit down route built in to attack zone however the crossers are consistently wide open with defenders lagging behind. Defenders need better logic for passing off routes and reacting to underneath routes.
Lack of Realistic Turnover Punishment
Too many passes that should be easy interceptions or hospital balls are being completed:
- Defenders are in perfect position, yet receivers not only make the catch but also break tackles and gain extra yards.
- There should be more dropped passes or picks when WRs get hit immediately after the catch, especially on risky throws.
Shallow Crossers and Quick Outs Are Too Safe
Players are consistently throwing shallow crossers late against Cover 2 Hard Flats or quick outs into hard flat coverage and getting away with it. These should be punished with interceptions or at least deflections more often. The game currently rewards poor timing and decision making.
Users calling the same play for entire game
The last thing is there needs to be a play call cool down limit on online ranked matches and there needs to be adaptive AI for users who run the same play over and over.
Overall the game plays really well but it’s tough playing online with users who only want to glitchy exploits!
