In game substitutions menu improvement needed

In game substitutions with the d pad needs updating. Why am I am getting wrs when trying to sub a dB. Shouldn't the substitution menu be in line with my depth chart? Too often get stuck with someone out of position because it's not easy to find the back up on the in gam menu and a play is called before I can find the guy im looking for.
