I don't have anything to add except to say this is affecting me as well. I do love the wear and tear system. It adds a level of realism to the game that I truly enjoy.
I'm on my 10th season in Franchise and have played most of all the games. (Yes it's an absurd amount of time playing)
However, my starting QB has only 2 bars of season health left at the end of the season and after scrolling through the entire CPU teams, there are no teams that have scratched 1/2 of a bar. I use my QB as a pocket passer so no I'm not running around and taking hits. You would think there are some QB's from the CPU that are doing this that would mean their season health would be taken a huge hit. This is something that takes place every season.
For HB's it's considerably worse. I now only use 1 HB per quarter so I can use them in the conference finals or playoffs if I make it. There are a handful of CPU teams that have 1 bar out of 4 depleted. However, my HB1 and HB2 have both 2 bars depleted and have taken significant hits to their career bars.
Unfortunately, this makes it impossible to compete with the CPU for the Heisman or other awards you can achieve.
If you play with the sliders, from what it appears it affects the CPU as well. It reduces the importance and fun the feature adds to the game. I enjoy getting some Freshman some reps if someone takes a big hit, or sitting a starter in a pointless game so they're fresh for the next one. It adds an element of strategy to the game which is fun to navigate. We just need the CPU playing by the same rules.
