When creating a custom playbook, the "Coach Suggestions" section in-game always present the same pool of plays, regardless of your star ratings/selections in the "My Gameplan" section in the custom playbook menu.
Obviously, spending lots of time on creating a custom playbook with unique ratings for the coach suggestions, and then for it not to work is quite frustrating. Let me know if I can provide any more details!
I've tried raising and lowering the adjustments, even going as far as having several plays at "100" or "5 stars" and the same 15 plays appear for each situation (1st down, 2 & long, etc.).
Seems like others are having this issue too. I’ll continue testing and trying things out, but this definitely seems like a bug/issue.
Your not alone....same thing here. Using a custom playbook for me is a huge part of the game. It released yesterday and I spent most of the entire day painfully going through and putting in new plays and going through gameplan star ratings for the plays. Probably like 3-4 hrs. Only for the same hand full of plays over and over again. INSAINELY frustrating. Im experiencing the same bug though. Hopefully will get patched SOONER than later. FYI something I'm doing in the meantime to somewhat make it usable is keeping my handful of plays for down situations and adding ones that won't show up in game as favorites. Between the custom plays that are there and all the ones I have added as favorites makes it somewhat playable. Hope this helps.
Yep, I’m planning on just adding a bunch as favorites and using that as a playbook until it’s fixed. You and I are in the same boat; spent about 2.5-3 hours yesterday setting up all the plays.

It's a painful process rating all your plays(I, do only pass plays) but it's so worth it in the end. It's such a game changer.
Really, really hoping this is a first patch fix. Anything else and this is imo an absolute disaster for EA once you consider how many hours folks have already spent with the expectation of using Coach Suggestions. Hoping for the best.
Im having the same issue. Not just that though, half of my plays in the book are not showing up in game. Even to be selected by formation
For example, my book has 9 Pistol sets with 56 plays between them. But in game and practice it shows I only have 2 Pistol Sets with a total of 9 plays between them

For those looking, this issue seems to be still ongoing despite the recent patch. I’ll continue to adjust and test as I can, but it needs to be fixed ASAP. Super frustrating :(
I'm having the same issue. Extremely frustrating, as the gameplans within custom playbooks are something I rely on. If I'd known this was going to be a problem, I may not have bought the game this year. Hopefully this gets fixed ASAP.
Despite the this thread being the 7th most viewed and 4th most liked in this entire Bug Report section, and the countless hours guys have put into building playbooks and rating plays, EA has released their Campus Huddle for the first big patch, and all is still quiet about this being fixed.
Any kind of an update would help, I think it's obvious at this point with how many popular threads there are about this issue that EA is aware of it.
Just give us something...
No surprise, but this is still broken after today's Title Update.
Update 8/6/25 — Still no fix.
Big title update today, got excited because I saw in the notes for the patch that they would be fixing something that caused the same play to show up twice on coach suggestions.
Was hoping this would be help this custom playbook issue…. Nope. Not at all.
still the same few plays suggested over and over no matter the ratings. So frustrating.
with the coach suggestions you can get to the line and make checks so much faster. Without it you get to the line later and then if you try and audible late you’re almost guaranteed to false start. Not to mention the rhythm aspect or just getting a better variety.
