Dynasty Simulation

I have been playing Dynasty for a couple of weeks now, and I don't understand the logic behind the simulation at all. My 96 overall team has been beaten by Purdue back-to-back years, whose overall was 70 both years. The sim consistently has my team lose to massive underdogs. I understand that upsets happen, but this occurs way too much. What's the point of building up a program and recruiting expensive players if the sim will just have me randomly lose to bad teams? There are way too many bugs and issues with this game to be $100. Will never be purchasing an EA game again.
