Brothers In Arms mission!

Product: Command & Conquer Remastered
Platform:Steam-PC
Summarize your bug Brothers in arms mission is bugged!
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play the "Brothers in arms" mission
What happens when the bug occurs? can't beat the mission
What do you expect to see? Delay the dog spawning time, there isn't really much fun or skill in doing that part of the mission anyway.

Hello! First of all, thank you guys for this absolute masterpiece of a remake, having an absolute blast with it.
That being said, I ran into a problem with a "Brothers In Arms" mission in Red Alert Aftermath. For some reason, I just can't outrun the dogs with my spy. I tried everything. I set the game on the slowest speed and ran the spy in the most effective way and he still isn't making it in time and gets eaten by dogs. Could you guys try playing that mission and see if you can beat it. I even tried to find a youtube video of beating it and only found the original RA, not the remaster.

  • @TerryBogardLV Yeah, same. On the original videos I saw, the 1st dog which patrols from right to left doesn't chase you. That is the one which keeps getting me.

    You can get past the first dog with same pathing trickery, but there is literally no way to outrun the other two dogs that come out of the kennels. In addition, the barrels which explode (which are supposed to kill the dogs chasing) are physically impossible to run past before they kill you. 

  • Pfff 3 weeks in and it's still broken. Retried the mission 20 times to see if the AI would do something funny but no luck this mission is unbeatable on hard as it is now. 

    Either the put the barrels around the dog kennel so the timing with the 3 dogs being burned is correct without adjusting anything else. Or they need to make a specific path for the dogs to (zigzag?) to the player because of the general speed boost applied to all units. But even if the dog walk slower, "Daniel" would still shoot the barrels too early for the spy hasn't passed them yet, and if the dogs walk slower they wont be burned. Tricky thing is it only applies to the "Hard" difficulty so I don't think they would make a special script/map layout just for "Hard". 

    I can imagine they want a generic solution for all difficulties. So although it is unholy I'd say move the barrels to the kennel and let the dogs die there on any difficulty. Least of effort and work and impact.

    And I recommend testing beyond this point on hard because there is another wave of dogs and if that wave also outruns the player we can start all over again. I've tried this mission on "Normal" and it works fine, although the second wave of dogs is very close... I imagine that if we get to that part they would need to adjust it too. So maybe for this mission they might want to tone down the dog movement speed else they need to fix the second part as well. 

    I implore you to do a magic number on this specific mission and difficulty. Superclass the dog and set movement speed to 1 if hard is selected. I'm a genius.

    Having the same problem, this mission appears to be impossible to complete on hard difficulty, needs patching.
