C&C Generals DirectX 8.1 error Windows 10 updated

Note that this is for Nvidia (I'm running Win 10, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 driver ver. 397.31) but if ATI has similar settings, go for it.

Here we go:

- Open Nvidia control panel

- Navigate to "Manage 3D settings"

- On the right side, switch to the "Program settings" tab

- Either find the game's executable in the drop down menu or manually add it (NOTE: it's NOT the generals.exe in the main folder)

When the above is completed you have to change 2 settings:

- Change "Antialiasing - FXAA" to "On"

- Change "Antialiasing - Mode" to "Off"

Hit that big apply button and you should be able to start the and play the game without issues.

This solution might apply to other older Origin / C&C games too, it did for me on The Saboteur.
