It's a well-known fact that the multiplayer balancing patches completely ruined the campaign, yes. Just the build radius nerfs make some missions completely impossible because they were designed for situations where you can build next to any building. I'm still not sure what they were expecting when they gave the game cheap early multiple building build queues anyway; it's asking for base crawling tactics. There's a reason C&C1's MCV is the end of the tech tree and costs about twice the money needed for the superweapons -_-
As for your problem, however, I believe the latest game version actually contains all of the earlier game exes as well. I sincerely hope this is true for the Origin version as well.

Seems it's done through command line parameters:
you can run any version of TW using -runver1.0 until -runver1.09.
If you use the Origin version you will need Bibber's fixed game launchers to do this, though.
I've seen that page before, one of the many that I've seen. Origin has a command line thing of sorts, not the same as the target location, but it says you can add them by going into your origin Game library and right clicking on the game, and hitting game properties.... however being as TW and Kanes wrath are grouped together it may be affecting it's ability to be a fix, I have not tried the Bibber's Fixed Game Launcher though, as I don't want to do anything to * off the allmighty Origin and have them make my game not work anymore, however if they are okay with people getting in there and Tinkering I'd be open to trying that. I tried the -runver 1.07, but I didn't think to take the space out in between maybe that may have some luck?
