Command & Conquer: The First Decade (Generals & Zero Hour) Not Booting Up
Hello! Just recently I've bought a whole new PC and I've been digging out old games from my childhood that I just absolutely loved. Battlefield 1942, Rome: Total War, and in this case, my Command & Conquer First Decade disc.
Now, I only care about Generals and Zero Hour, I do not care for the others and don't intend to install them. I also do intend if I can ever get this to work, to install the Shockwave mod afterwards, so keep that in mind.
No matter what I've done, I haven't been able to successfully boot up Zero Hour. I've looked around everywhere to try and find patches I should download, things in the files I need to go and edit, tried running as administrator, tried compatibility mode, nothing has worked. I click on the First Decade icon, and it brings up the list. With having only Generals and Zero Hour installed, those are the only ones highlighted. I click on Zero Hour, then it acts like it's about to boot up, it then sits for around 10ish seconds before closing and bringing me back to the main list screen.
I am running a fresh Windows 10 with a physical copy of this game. Please, I just want to be able to play this again so if you have the solution, please be concise.
@SparkyPriccI think the First Decade games don't work on Windows 10 because of the non-working SecuRom/SafeDisc DRM on Wiindows 10.
@NyergudsYou are more familiar with old releases. Can you confirm this?
The best way to get these games working on Windows 10 is by buying The Ultimate Collection on Origin, which is often quite cheap. It suffers from a known issue currently for some, causing it not to launch.
