I second this. I tried everything i could find for windows 8.1, no luck.
- Added / edited the options.ini
- Tried all options under compatibility mode, and some different combinations
- Running as administrator
- Enabled built in admin account, tried it from there
The initial error i saw was: Access denied: Please login with administrator privileges and try again.
Now it just doesn't do anything, then the compatibility troubleshooter pops up and asks if it worked.
Some interesting things that i noticed;
There is an event log entry blocking a driver that coincides with starting the game (can't figure out how to post images)
It is blocking SecDrv from being loaded.
SecDrv.sys is a driver file located in the CC generals folder. That's where i made the connection.
EDIT:
Details on the error:
Entry 1:
Event 7000, Service Control Manager
The SecDrv service failed to start due to the following error:
This driver has been blocked from loading
Entry 2:
Event 1060, Application popup
The description for Event ID 1060 from source Application Popup cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
\??\C:\WINDOWS\SysWow64\drivers\SECDRV.SYS
the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table

Did you install the game on windows 10 or is it a leftover from your old windows version? It seems like there are a lot of problems with the stuff that was kept from your hdd before the update, it might be the best to try re-installing everything that causes problems

@eyorrs
You can reinstall games that you have in your origin account after upgrading, but the issue in question is whether or not these games will work out of the box on Windows 10, or whether they will require some work arounds. I have yet to get the game working on any of my windows 10 machines ( i have tried on 2 different machines).

I installed it clean after installing windows 10.
My windows 10 install was a clean install, not an upgrade.
I do have the CC collection on origin, but it is worth noting that this install is not via origin, but rather the original disks from way back when.

Did that, now will not complete the install of just Generals
