Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour online connection problems :(

    Tried the above and that didn't work.

    We've managed to get it working now. See below ...

    1. What we did was ... completely uninstall the entire game (TFD)
    2. Did a registry clean using ccleaner
    3. Restarted his pc
    4. Right clicked on the CD within windows explorer ... selected open (in order to view the DVD contents ready for step 6)
    5. Disabled AVAST anti-virus (as well as internet connection for obvious reasons)
    6. Right clicked on "setup" and ran it as administrator
    7. Installed it to the directory "D:\EA Games" (important that it's outside the program files 86 folder)
    8. After installation we set the main Zero Hour application (not the TFD launcher application) to run in compatibility mode for VISTA Service Pack 2 with run as administrator NOT ticked
    9. Test and hey ho success 🙂

Just to jump in with a workaround, it might be worth setting up a virtual LAN if you are only concerned with playing against each other.

Perhaps your friend can try restarting his machine with a Clean Boot, in case there is 3rd party  interference. That you can get an online game and he can't suggests to me that the issue lies with his install. Another fix that may help, from this thread: Programs and Features, select TFD(The First Decade) and click Change. Untick Zero Hour, let the setup program remove it and then follow the same steps
again except this time tick the box. Zero Hour should now work online.

    iam running it through origins...purchases andall...still wont work....?
