@themevictory If you are already using an Admin account then you don't need to use a different account. Check your UAC setting and watch out for any prompt to allow the C&C exe to run (the prompt may be minimised).

@themevictory User Account Control. Press start and type "user" into the search bar, it should show "Change user account control settings". Click that and it should pop up a window where you can move the slider up to "Always notify".

Hi. I am trying to opening it by typing user account control or simply user, and even change user account control.

The name pops up but no matter how many times I try it does not open.

I have tried goggle articles to fix this but IDK what is wrong with this??? This is happening despite a fresh Windows 11 install. All I did afterwords was to deactivated some items in MSCONFIG???

Please help me???

I did set the UAC to always notify but still none of the games are launching.

Has anyone tried to buy the C&C the ultimate collection again via this EA app? Do the games work if you buy it again?

@cpapouis I am not sure what to say about that cpapouis. It looks like meaning behind bad customer services from EA on purchased items we own, is to force us to buy license of EA play and pay them reasonable amount every month???

So it seams to me.

They are neglaxting this fact that if they provide best customer services on one time purchased items, people will trust them and buy even more from them.

Earlier Origin app was working fine so I bought C&C Ultimate collection.

Then NOX.

Then Medal of honor series completely.

Then C&C Remastered.

At #3 EA app was lunched and now it's full stop"."

Are you saying that you can't even get into the UAC settings? If you can't, then pls provide screenshots of the steps you are taking along with any error messages.

I don't work for EA though, so my time here is limited. You may well have to wait some time for a response if I'm busy with other things 😉

Sadly my knowledge is not so much to take a screenshot of Windows installation, but no matter how hard I try I don't get behind this point where I have taken screenshot below.

@themevictory I can see you've stopped a whole bunch of services from running. If you're not very knowledgeable with Windows, that may cause you problems, unless you know for a fact that you don't need them to run. Maybe that's stopping you from opening UAC. Not being able to launch Windows snap-ins like UAC is a pretty fundamental problem on your PC and tbh it's a bit beyond the scope of this EA forum.

@themevictoryI'm a retired IT analyst, though I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm a Windows expert. I'm not sure what the best resources are these days if you're starting out and seeking to increase your Windows knowledge. The obvious would be YouTube I suppose. You can find plenty of intermediate level / in-depth Windows training videos on there (the beginners ones would mostly be too basic for you, though you may still pick up a few pointers from them).

To anyone reading this as of October 10th, 2023: THIS PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED

Hey @bleearghh a few months back I was in this thread trying to work out how to play this game on a user account. The previous solution I had was to download the origin app and force it to stall the update prompt. As of now, the origin app seems to be officially retired and will not work anymore. I'm wondering if you have made any progress or if you have found any way to download the game to work on a user account. The only helpful information I have to add is that I caved and backed up my computer and got a fresh install of windows 11 and installed the "gen patcher" that supposedly fixes the game by repairing broken registry entries. Perhaps I installed the program wrong but even that did not fix the issues I have with running the game on a user profile. I can't believe you're still trying to help people in this thread bleearghh. Mad respect man.

I truly cannot believe how unprofessional EA is with this whole debacle. Unfortunately, this is not the only game that is having this issue and they are essentially robbing thousands of customers of their purchases. On top of that, for the games that do work, I have learned that the new EA app does not have an offline mode and you must be online to play any game. This is unacceptable and regret giving EA every cent. Wish I pirated the game at this point. I've paid for it twice now, wouldn't be stealing a thing.

If any EA employee is reading this, I beg of you to help bring this to the attention of someone and unmark this thread solved because it is NOT solved. I will not pay another cent on any game published from you guys until this is fixed.

Hi @Spiderwolfer I'm afraid I drew a blank trying to fix it. I'm not sure if this is even fixable client side tbh. I use an admin account anyways (not best practice I know but old habits and all that!) so apart from the long ago fixed issue of the broken XML code, my game has always run ok.

EA are indeed shocking. I may well take a break from them anyways and switch to an XBOX game pass as I have a free 12 month offer for it, if I commit to a new contract with my ISP.

Sir. I figured out what was interfering /let not working the UAC (user account control). It was not that I removed too much from starting with Windows 11 in MSCONFIG.

It was that I let "Defender Remover" (Searched in Google) and tried 1st 4 results to install on Windows.

1st result failed UAC.

2nd result failed using taskbar successfully after a Windows update and so on....

Also I have tried to deactivating Windows Security in Group Policy (GPedit.msc) too, but still interferes with my things. Any advice???

Sir. Is there anyway to remove Windows Security (defender) from Windows as I hat it???

I know! I know! you will say how come /why I want to remove /uninstall it from Windows???

And the answer is because it interferes with every single thing I do or do not on my PC. That's why I am using Malwarebytes

Sir do you have any suggestion on how to uninstall Windows Security completely successfully such that it does not interfere anymore???

Please answer all of my asked questions, if it is OK???

As a parting remark however, I would repeat my previous suggestion that you watch some Windows instructional videos on YouTube. I don't know what current books are out there that would suit your needs.

Sir, even it looked like off-topic it is somehow related to the C&C Remastered Collection.

You see reason for C&C Remastered Collection was not working before was interference from both Windows Security, or /and any defender remover application mentioned earlier.

Both will not let the game work.

If I remove Windows Security problem solves but in this process defender remover won't let UAC work any further or corrupt windows after update or icons not working.

In case not removing Windows Security, C&C Remastered Collection will work a few times before it begins to show same error mentioned before.

So Sir??? If you please??? Please advice me on what to do??? Or how to remove Windows Security (Preferable without google searched remover programs) so that I can finally make game run more than only a couple of times, please???

Your problem seems rather obscure and I've not seen it reported previously. You've mentioned making a lot of somewhat advanced changes to your PC (even changing GPO) and by your own admittance your knowledge is very limited. It seems likely to me that somewhere along the line your Windows build has stopped working as it should (likely as a result of various edits / changes / other software installs you have made). Bottom line is that logging in with an admin account, changing UAC and keeping an eye out for the UAC pop-up which may be minimised when you run the game, resolves the issue for the vast majority of people with the permissions problem. There has been the occasional user who has still been unable to get it to work but nobody (myself included) has been able to resolve their issues.

If you don't mind the hassle, you could try regressing Windows back to a point before you started making these changes or failing that, you could reinstall Windows. Advice on that is, again, way out of scope of this forum.

Beyond this, I'm afraid I'm unable to assist you any further.

Thanks @Spiderwolfer , I'll probs go Xbox pass once my EA runs out.

Against my better judgement I ended up trying "GenPatcher v2.06" after seeing it mentioned on a reddit thread, now I defo caution anyone else from this as it needs a lot of elevated permissions in the way that if it is malware will leave you exposed

TLDR I installed it, ran it and now Generals and Zero Hour work for my on W10 whereas every other fix I tired never did

Again not suggesting other people try it unless you can verify independently that it is legit

Thank you for all your advice here on the forum. I managed to solve the problem as well - want to share it, maybe it helps somebody.

The key was the modal windows with the confirmation of permitions. I haven't seen it.

I bought the game through Epic Games. I had to register also in EA. The game didn't run from EA or directly from Program Files for me.Executing EXE did basically nothing. I had nothing in the LOG files. I was logged as admin (Win11).

The key to my problem was launching the game through Epic Games Launcher, not EA... There I got a message regarding "rights" and the game launched...
