command and conquer renegade will not work, running win. 10

Im trying to run Renegade on windows 10. thing is, it will run it if all settings are set to low 640x480 and on compatibility for XP. Ive seen where others are able to run the game with 32bit color depth, 1024x768 and so on. Im running an Alienware Aurora R11, so i have more then whats needed to run this. When trying different settings the game will open, play the opening stuff but crash at the menu. Utility config, and game property have all been changed, patch updates and still cant get this thing to run how i want. any and all help is appreciated.
