Command and Conquer Ultimate Collection windows 10 issues

i recently purchased the command and conquer ultimate collection on origin however i am having trouble playing a number of the older titles such as generals and zero hour which show the serious error message on launch . After trying several 'fixes' i have had no luck in getting the game to work.

i am using an Intel i5 processor

                         8GB Ram

                         windows 10

                         Gforce 960m graphics card

i have no problem playing other more system heavy games using this system can anyone help me

I looked into this a while ago. One part of the fix is to manually create the settings file in your My Documents folder; I assume that's the fix you already tried? Anyway, specifically about Origin, this was what I had to do to get it running right, and it's a solution I haven't seen advertised anywhere so far:

    • Go into the game folders for Generals and Zero Hour. Each of these folders should have a "generals_origin.exe" file inside them.
    • Right click the file, open its properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and make sure it's set to run as administrator, in Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatibility mode.

Origin sets the compatibility mode on the original game executables ("generals.exe" on both games), but not on the Origin-specific versions it actually runs. This is especially ridiculous since the "generals_origin.exe" is a replacement of the original; it's not some kind of launcher to start the actual "generals.exe", it simply is the game, meaning the old "generals.exe", on which the installer sets the compatibility mode, is actually never used at all. 😞

    Thanks for the quick reply
Unfortunately it did not work for me as I could not find any generals_origin.exe in any of the game folders.
    The location I have is

Pc-Windows-Program Filesx86-Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour

Within this folder there is a generals.exe and also folders for both generals and zero hour, within them there is another generals.exe.
I set all three files to the comparability mode suggested and have tried the options fix also with the same error message
Is there another location that origin games will be stored ?

@aevans94 That's strange. Do they appear when you update the game through Origin? Also, is the compatibility mode set on these "Generals" application files inside the two actual game folders?

They appear when installed and updated through origin and the compatibility mode is applied to all generals.exe.
I think the two folders are for each game and the first is for the launcher which pops up when you start the game to pick which generals you wish to play generals or zero hour

I just don't understand why it won't work I have tried the game on my friends systems and it plays fine no compatability needed or fixes they are also running Windows 10, the game files install in the same way also.
