Re: Black Screen on Command and Conquer Red Alert 2

@DeBoss80

As an alternative to the TS-DDraw plokite linked, you can also use DDWrapper. It is known to solve a multitude of graphics problems, including the "black screen" issue, and it has some options you can tweak in case it still doesn't work. I think TS-DDraw doesn't actually have any configuration option.

Download the zip file and extract "ddraw.dll" and "aqrit.cfg" into your game folder. Then, open the configuration file "aqrit.cfg" in Notepad, change the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1, save the file, and try running the game again

    I've copied "ddraw.dll" and "aqrit.cfg" into the game folder, and I also changed the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1 in "aqrit.cfg".

    As soon as I select "Launch Game" from the Skirmish menu, the "ddraw.dll" file disappears from the game folder. I have no idea why this is. It just vanishes from the folder, as if starting the match removes it.

    Any idea what is going on?

    You can see in the attached image that the file is there... As soon as I start a match it gets removed from the folder.

    Perhaps I'm launching the game via the wrong application option. I don't know.

    I'm running the Mental Omega mod btw. All files should be copied over properly, I think.

    Either you didn't disable Origin In-Game for RA2/YR if you're using The Ultimate Collection version, or your antivirus is on the paranoid side and keeps deleting or quarantining a file it doesn't recognize (add ddraw.dll to its exception list or find a better antivirus altogether).
