Re: C&C Ultimate Collection - will it run on win 10?
You are worrying about exactly the wrong games, and, in fact, for multiple reasons:
- Command & Conquer 1, Red Alert 1 and Tiberian Sun are all freeware. You should never need to buy The Ultimate Collection to play just these games; you can just download them for free.
- There is a very active fan community around these games dedicated to patching them and making them playable online (namely, CnCNet). Out of all the games in the Ultimate Collection pack, those are the ones you have to worry about the least; the unofficial patches available for them fix pretty much all known issues for these games.
More information, plus downloads, can be found in this thread.
The same fixes are of course available as patches, too. Those patches, plus a common fix for Red Alert 2's graphics issues, can be found in this thread.
These games sometimes have trouble starting, or show weird colours or stretch to odd dimensions, if Display Scaling is enabled in Windows. This can be disabled on the PC globally, but I believe an option to disable it also exists in the compatibility options of the game executable files.
Now, besides that... if you have any problems, you can follow the general steps described in the sticky threads in this forum, making sure games run in administrator mode and the right compatibility modes, and create any settings folders and files that might be missing, then yes, they should generally work fine.
The only known actually unresolved issue I know of is some mysterious driver-related error of C&C3 on Intel HD video cards, but unless you actually have that hardware, it's nothing to worry about either.
