Re: command and conquer generals deluxe edition will not start in windows 7 64 bit

@maknasos:

  • Do you get any error messages?
  • Did you run the game as administrator?
  • Do you have the "Command and Conquer Generals Data" and "Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data" folders in your "My Documents" folder, with an "options.ini" file in each one? If not, this thread will help you to create the file, which should fix the issue.

If all those things are okay, this could potentially be the Safedisc issue. More information on that can be found here on the Microsoft forums. There have been a couple of discussions about it here on the site as well: here and here.

    Thanks a lot for your help.

    It lead me to this thread and I followed the directions at the end, down the page, on how to enable secdrv.sys that the KB3086255 update had disabled.

    Everything works fine now.

    Fu***ng Microsoft disables features in our PC's without notice!

    Thanks again.
