A quote from another thread I found, for CnC Generals, but applicaple here:

EA_CIRE ive found a solution to zero hour but not generals which is strange , ive contacted ea and hope to hear from them soon if i dont hear anything from them ill send u on my details .

anyway people who are having this problem i got zero hour working by following these steps (when i did it the place for the serial was empty hope this helps some people )

Here's a solution anyway (special thanks to lajakl):
    1) Open the Registry Editor by typing "regedit" at the bottom of the start menu, in the search box ( windows 7)

    2) Once you have opened the Registry Editor, go to this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432Node -> Electronic Arts -> EA Games -> Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour -> ergc
Click on the arrows next to the folder icons to navigate to the path

    3) You should see your serial number in ergc set as something like HGUTJGIDBRY286HG92JG
    Now:
    - Check if this matches with the serial code your game came with
    - make sure there are no spaces
To modify the serial number, right click on "Default" under "Name" and select modify.

I must note I experience this error with my recent CnC Red Alert 3 purchase via EA's Origin - as part of the Command and Conquer: The Ultimate Collection.

I pursued this solution for TUC - Command and Conquer Red Alert 3. I changed the following:

... // Electronic Arts -> EA Games -> Command and Conquer Red Alert 3

I change the value of (Default) to my product code as seen under "Game Info" in Origin. No luck - same error.

I also undid this change and then ...

// Electronic Arts -> EA Games -> Command and Conquer Red Alert 3

created new key (folder) named ergc (which did not exist), and changed the Default value to my product code.

I also tried both of these solutions in combination with no luck. I also tried both of these solutions in combination with no luck. I tried entering my product code with and without dashes, as I have seen solutions post to do one or the other - but no luck.

Does anyone have another solution, or has anyone had this solution work for RA3?
