Yuri's Revenge Skirmish Menu Stuck Origin

So I wanted to play some old Yuri's Revenge from my Ultimate Collection and for some reason, the game just gets stuck when I choose Skirmish from the main menu. The only way out of it is to Alt-F4/Ctrl-Alt-Del. The game doesn't crash in task manager from Alt-Tab, but I can't get back to that screen from Alt-Tab. The game's error message shows on desktop when I highlight it on the taskbar.

No Origin In-Game options are turned on, Windows compatibility doesn't make any difference and I managed to get single player to run smoothly by adding VideoBackBuffer=no in RA2MD.ini. So the game plays, it just won't load the Skirmish menu of the game. Running on Windows 8.1.

Is there a workaround to this?

Thanks

    Nope, this did not work.
I just tried it, Skirmish still will not load in the main menu.

@Denji Gotcha, unfortunately with the older titles the newer OS's just aren't working in all aspects.

As Yuri's Revenge was released nearly 20 years ago, it's one of the titles that unfortunately falls into this category.

The disc version worked on Windows 7 just fine and I'm running the Ultimate Collection from Origin. So it should be optimized to my OS considering it's a re-release. The first Red Alert works. I paid for a collection where all games on said collection should work.

And... what is that error message exactly?

How do you figure that? The games themselves are still the same... with the same issues. EA never worked on actually fixing these. TUC only applies some strategic compatibility modes.

    The CnCNet project, however, has:
