Can't get surround sound on PS3

Question

As per title, my surround sound isn't working with dead space 3. Connected via optical cable to a fairly old DVD/surround sound combo that I just use on my PS3. Games usually work fine with DTS selected on the PS3 menu, and DVD/Blue Rays need 5.1 surround selected.

Dead space 3 seems only to be sending 2 channel sound (with DTS selected). Selecting 5.1 results in no sound at all. This is the first game I've ever had this issue with!

Any suggestions?

The information I have is that this game supports the following surround audio modes: Dolby Digital, 5.1LPCM, 7.1LPCM

Please try using one of these surround sound modes.
