Ch3 Ignite the engines tentacle cannot be killed

I'm in chapter 3 and I have restarted the centrifuge. Now I need to restart the engines. I get confronted with the tentacle which cannot be killed.

I even tried with a trainer with all settings on but to no avail.

Wherever and whatever I shoot (the yellow part), I always die.
